Off-Season Skills Sessions
Ottawa Irish Training Starts at St. Peter’s High School

Pre-season training for any Irish players started on January 13th at St. Peter’s High School (750 Charlemagne Blvd, Orléans, ON K4A 3M4) and runs until the end of March. A big thank you to Pat Turner for making the gym and wrestling mats available for our sessions.

The emphasis on these sessions is skill development, understanding how to manipulate a defender or defenders, and a particular emphasis on winning the breakdown battle on defense and retaining possession when we have the ball. It is an expectation that all players are on an individual fitness program so the teams can play at a high level when the competitive season begins.

All Irish players are welcome. We are meeting at St. Peter’s every Thursday at 8:15 pm for an 8:30 pm start. Sessions will end promptly at 9:45 pm. Clean running shoes are a must, as are mouthguards when we do breakdown work.

So far, the attitude and effort has been excellent. Looking forward to the weeks ahead.
